Magic. . .

Come take my hand
You should know me
I've always been in your mind
You know I will be kind
I'll be guiding you

I'm not sure if it's a good thing to be in people's minds or not, but they will either let you know or not.  Do you have someone, something or some being guiding you?  I wonder if we understand how much we allow ourselves to be taken to places that we have never been before.  Of course, that involves trust on your part to be able to surrender parts of yourself to an experience or journey that has no end in sight.  Do you trust yourself and that other party to know where to take you, to lead you?

Building your dream
Has to start now
There's no other road to take
You won't make a mistake
I'll be guiding you

There are different levels or layers of trust.  It may come easily or it may take some time to develop, depending on the context that we are asked to trust ourselves (and others).  Do you take the time and energy to build your dream on a daily basis?  I say this to you if you're a person that isn't particularly one for 'pie in the sky' dreams but rather fixated on the here and now.  I recently listened to a talk on 'mindfulness' and being more present in the here and now.  Does this mean then that we need to be much more super aware of our surroundings and be much more appreciative of the lessons that accompany and become entrenched to some degree in these surroundings?  I think we are often afraid to make mistakes, so we don't try new things or meet new people, because we think there's some manual from the galaxy that we're meant to follow.

You have to believe we are magic
Nothin' can stand in our way
You have to believe we are magic
Don't let your aim ever stray
And if all your hopes survive
Your destiny will arrive
I'll bring all your dreams alive
For you

What is magic?  Is it something that happens when it comes together in such a way that it defies logical explanation, causing the mind to boggle more than usual?  All you know is that magic is something of mystery and evocative of childhood delights that used to thrill you beyond measure and has lost its shine in the harsh light of adulthood.  Musically speaking, the chorus reveals an ethereal symmetry, the first half urging the listener to believe in magic, because it is important to the goal of being guided to making dreams come alive; the promise of destiny arriving in the second half.  It makes me think about how our own destinies will arrive.  Do you know what lies in store for you with such certainty that you can see it, taste it, feel it, hear it, that it overwhelms your senses, that it couldn't be anything else but magic?

From where I stand
You are home free
The planets align so rare
There's promise in the air
And I'm guiding you

I don't feel that people have a sense of wonder and excitement about things anymore.  It saddens me to think about how cynical we've become in this sense.  What do the planets aligning look like in your world?  I'm talking about the synchronicity that you can't explain (should we even want to?) that just makes things and people 'feel' right.  Is this that sense of belonging that we find ourselves trying to avoid yet understand is inextricably intertwined with our unspoken need to connect?  What does it mean to be home free?  We are more free than usual to pursue, enjoy or just revel in what is?  The promise in the air is so faint that you need to strain your ears to hear it, but I guess if you have the ears to hear it, then that will bring with it the beginning of the knowledge you need for guidance.

Through every turn I'll be near you
I'll come anytime you call
I'll catch you when you fall
I'll be guiding you

Divine inspiration sits quite nicely in this verse.  Who do you call upon when you need help, when you need the reassurance to keep you safe and on the path that you want to be?  We would not truly be living if we didn't have many turns in the road.  There is no other way that we can build our character and forearm ourselves against the challenges that we must face, to slay our own demons, if we didn't believe in our own magic of what makes us who we are.

You have to believe we are magic
Nothin' can stand in our way
You have to believe we are magic
Don't let your aim ever stray
And if all your hopes survive
Your destiny will arrive
I'll bring all your dreams alive
For you

Why would your hopes not survive in this world?  We need to be mindful of each and every thing that we do because it speaks to what we are attracting into our lives, and the people that we choose to accompany on this journey.

Where are we going?  Who knows.  I don't think the destination is important.  Destinations are only ever really the signal that we have arrived at our destiny.

If you are particularly mindful you will notice that maybe the people you surrounded yourself with six months ago, may not necessarily be the same people now.  Funny how life turns out and how fast things change.  All in the blink of an eye.  Be grateful for what you have left behind, be grateful for what you have, be grateful for what is to come.  Surely this is why we have to believe we are magic?
