Good goodbye. . .

Old man, let me wipe your eyes
I've never seen you cry

What do we do when we come across someone who is crying?  Do you comfort them?  Do you think about how you can help them?  Try to understand how you feel about them crying and cry with them?  When we stumble across people in this way, do you know how to respond effectively?  There may not be many people who can wipe your eyes when you cry either.  It's hard to allow yourself to be vulnerable in front of others and you probably don't realise how you look in front of them either.

Old friend in our own sweet time
We'll say a good goodbye
All my life I know by now

The thing I love about life is about the sweet times that you have with people.  There will be people that come in and out of your life, because of new situations that you find yourself in and because they need to move on with their life so that they can grow, while you have some growing of your own to do.  It is important to find some closure in such things because otherwise regrets start to form and you think that you have left things incomplete and nothing is resolved.  Sometimes people don't know when to leave well enough alone, so we need to be sure that we consider everything in a more circumspect before reacting to silly people and their petty little games.

All these memories, too much to lose

No one ever leaves you
I don't need faith, I don't need truth
No one ever leaves you

I completely agree that nobody ever leaves you.  If people make a huge impression on your life, or make a huge imprint, then they will leave pieces of themselves behind and you can't help but think about how much better your life is for having known them.  If we don't need faith or truth from anyone, I usually think, in fact I more often than not feel, that this is because we don't need anything from someone.  We just need to "be" in the same space together.  Enjoy the stillness with people as much as you can.  Especially with people who know how to be still with you.

You'd say this is all there is
And every time you'd blink
You'd miss another piece of this wondrous world
All I'd ask is why you'd leave so soon
Everybody seems to
I don't need faith I just want you
No one ever leaves you

I've been spending a lot of time with teachers lately as part of the job.  Today I worked with a group of teachers who I've been keeping in contact with over 8 weeks in an online course.  Today they shared their strategic plan that they have worked on and listening to their new learning and reflections about their learning, I couldn't help but feel how much more wondrous the world is because I'm listening to teachers and school leaders discuss how they are committed to helping Pacific Island children achieve in their schools.

Those of us tasked with this privileged position of helping to support teachers to improve their practice, to provoke their thinking and to challenge the status quo - it makes me feel proud of what I'm doing not for myself, but for the generations of Pacific children in Aotearoa that will benefit from passionate educators who want to be their best for them.

Everybody raise a glass oh here's to a good goodbye
Everybody raise a glass oh here's to a good goodbye
Everybody raise a glass oh here's to a good goodbye
Oh, everybody raise a glass, oh

When significant people leave your life, it is important to wish them well and celebrate how much they have grown with you.  It is important to raise a glass to them and acknowledge an end to things as they are because what lies in front of you will change, you will change.  We may never realise why we need to have a good goodbye but when we do, it's because we will have stopped thinking about what we have lost, but instead, fully understand what we have gained.

All these memories too much to lose
No one ever leaves you
I don't need faith, I don't need truth
No one ever leaves you
I don't need faith, I just want proof. . .

I hope that you think about those who leave your life and acknowledge that nothing stays the same over time.  We outgrow people, we outgrow places.  Some do it faster than others.  Some never realise until it's too late.  Some turn down new positions because of other priorities that are outside their realm of control.  For whatever reasons that we find ourselves making decisions based on what's either good for ourselves or for the greater good of others, you must be sure to have a good goodbye. . .

Take everything in. . .

This blog post is dedicated to you - when you need to remember what your purpose is in life ;-)

Lord knows I gotta be
True to myself to see
God's been too good to me
To take things lightly

What I love about this song is that the introduction gives you a bit of a teaser with the subtle piano solo before the rhythm kicks in, giving you the groove of the track.  For me, when rhythm kicks a song into gear, it gives the song the motion it needs to move us along, to allow our head to move in time with the melody, and also give us an opportunity to pay attention to the other instruments that form layers of texture before the lyrics begin.

Are you able to be true to yourself?  I guess it can be difficult for people to be true to themselves when they don't know who they are.  We can easily get caught up in trying to be other people that we admire and aspire to be, rather than actually doing some critical self-reflection and understanding how you can take your own unique gifts and talents to bring joy to others, to make a contribution to this world and to be grateful to God or whoever you worship as your spiritual higher power - for being able to use these gifts and talents to help others realise their own.

We all know that we got better days
Even when our world is grey
Trouble don't last always
That's why I'm leaning on my friends

When your world is grey, it is very easy to let it permeate everything that you touch.  If you remember that grey days soon clear up to allow for the sun to peak through those clouds, that when you surround yourself with really good friends who can lean on each other.

The best friends you can be with are the ones who tell you straight up how ugly you are when you are at your worst.  Real friends are people who are there for you in your darkest times and understand when you need them to be there for you, or if you need space before you feel up to having visitors reconnect with you again.

So busy worryin' bout the little things
When someone else is doing worse than me
Somebody out there got a child in need
I never sold you down for you and me

I'm starting to think more along the lines of when someone else is doing worse than their best - rather than doing worse than me.  This inane need to compete with others about who has a better life is irrelevant.  Society tells us that we need to conform and strive for the best in all things material.  Those are the very things that are immaterial.  If you know people that are not feeling their best, reach out and connect with them so that they are able to be supported by you to bring out their best.

And the air we breathe
Maybe ain't even healthy
Cause in the forest there ain't no trees
Don't tell me that don't make you stop and think

The loyalty that comes from real, deep and meaningful friendship, can stand the test of time when your mutual times together have been tested.  Have you ever sold anyone down in order to advance yourself?  I'm not a fan of people that have done that to me in the past.  But in saying that, I have been grateful for being mistreated in this way, because it taught me never to compromise my true self and ever put myself down again.

I'm so grateful (said I'm grateful)
I'm where I wanna be (right where I wanna be)
Every blessing
Every blessing means more than life to me

All of the good things that come your way, you must accept them, even when they are scary.  I have received news from friends in the last 24 hours that will be life changing for all of them and it makes me grateful for their successes, their milestones, their achievements that have come about from hard work and just some general planning, heck maybe it's even destiny, because they can't explain why good things happen to them.  Why do we even need to worry about why good things happen to us right?  We just need to be thankful for them when they come our way.

Sometimes we gotta stop
And take everything in
Make room for my new dreams
Look back on the old scenes

I think at some points in our life, we need to remember to stop and drink everything in.  Survey what you have achieved and take stock of all the experiences that have helped to shape you and draw you towards something new that you need to achieve.  Even all of the bad experiences that you might have gone through, those challenging times that you thought you couldn't possibly overcome and saw no way out, no light at the end of the tunnel - and now you've moved past it, and moved through it.  You laugh at yourself don't you?  You never believed that you'd get through it right?  It's all the learning from the old scenes that you need to keep in your heart.  We need to know how to feel our way to the new dreams.

It's time for me to step up
You gave me a reason
To walk into my season
I've only just begun. . .

I hope that you never forget to step up and position yourself to where you need to be.  I hope that you acknowledge people who have shaped you and made you realise the precious gemstone that you are, even during the times when you thought that you didn't see the value in yourself.

I hope you learn that every season in your life should allow you space to walk.
Everyday should feel like you've only just begun.  So smile and be grateful.
It's time to just take everything in. . .

Everyone is gonna love me now. . .

This blog post is dedicated to the memory of Jeanine Tuivaiki #beautifuljeanine

If you like to watch the videos that I attach to the blog post there are a couple of things you should know about today's video, 1) if you don't mind the preamble where the singer/songwriter talks about how the song was written and just enjoy the general chit chat of being there live, then watch from the beginning, 2) if you would like to cut straight to the song, start watching from 2:15.

Stars are lighting up the parking lot
It came to me the second I forgot
You gotta let me go

If you're Samoan then chances are you are probably not a fan of the Samoan Observer right now.  They made the poor decision to print an image of a young transgender woman who died in tragic circumstances in a church hall in Samoa.  It is unclear why she chose to leave this earth, but one thing is clear; her human rights were violated when the newspaper decided to print a photograph of her lifeless body on the front page of their newspaper.  Despite an apology (and we shall use that word loosely today, because it is just as loose as their explanation for choosing to print the image) the damage has been done.  What family who is grieving for the loss of a loved one, needs to see that final image of their beautiful daughter plastered all over the news in this senseless and demeaning way?

If I knew the way to less alone

Then it wouldn't sink me like a stone
Find the words to save
I wasn't born to fade

Suicide is never the right answer to a tragic situation. no matter how bad it may seem, but we forget that some people may not think in this way.  In fact, they see no way out other than to take their own lives because they truly believe that the world is better off without them.  I think we lose sight of the fact that we were not born to fade.  We need to tell each other all the time that we care deeply, embrace widely and think highly of everyone we come into contact with.  We need to never have those thoughts leave our minds and cause us to think that we need to fade away.

Maybe I can go away
Where everyone is gonna love me now

I had a conversation with a friend the other day and I said to her - if I'm the harmony of the universe, then I need to surround myself with the right harmony.  This is what I think about when you think of how your heart has to sing in whatever you do, in whatever you need to do to make sure that you are living the destiny that you are on.  Despite the tragic circumstance of Jeanine's death that has been revealed, I think her death will not be vain.  I think her death will help to bring life and awareness to transgender issues in Samoa and around the world, how they are accepted by their communities (or not) and what we can do collectively to love others, like how we wish to be loved.

I was never right but never wrong

Everybody thought I'd finish strong
But I can get there soon
If you push me to the moon

Nobody can be wrong if they set out to do things that don't deliberately harm others.  I had a chat tonight with some university students who reminded me a lot of how I felt when I first started university.  They talked about issues of overthinking - being accused of it because they don't want to compromise their personal integrity or hide their voices when they are trying to participate in a tutorial, so they choose to remain silent.  I told them that sadly that doesn't really change when you become an adult.  I said I'm about 20 years older than you guys and I am in contact with lots of adults who struggle to filter their voices or want to conform with what the status quo is because they are scared of what other people might think.  I told them the best thing they could do is just to trust themselves.  I also told them, what you are feeling right now at age 18 is very natural, you are starting to learn what it means to be an independent thinker.  This is what university is supposed to teach us - to give us space to think and critique everything that comes across our path and think about how we can make a difference.  Are you surrounded by the right harmony to push you further to the moon?

Maybe I can go away

Where everyone is gonna love me now
Maybe I can go away
Where everyone is gonna love me now

I hope that Jeanine finds the peace that she has been seeking, that she could not find in this world.
If you are going through some dark valleys in your life that may tempt you to meet your death, I hope that you find people you can confide in who can be there to listen to you and help you figure things out.  I hope that people will be able to find what they are searching for and that they can rely on those who have told them they are there for them no matter what.  I have never turned away anyone who has asked for help or come to me with a problem.  First of all, it is a privilege to be asked and secondly, if it is in my power to help then I will or I will at least help push you to the moon.

Where everyone is gonna love me now. . .

Rest in peace Jeanine Tuivaiki.  Know that everyone loves you now.  Even when you may not have thought so.

It's all about soul. . .

She waits for me at night, she waits for me in silence
She gives me all her tenderness and takes away my pain
And so far she hasn't run, though I swear she's had her moments
She still believes in miracles while others cry in vain

Do you appreciate how much someone cares for you?  There may be times when you do seriously think about how much there isn't much reciprocity or they don't understand what you give up to care for them in the way the want to be cared about, yet spare little regard for you and your feelings.  What miracles do you believe in?  Are we in a place where we can always believe in the hope of beautiful things and people. rather than always be duped by people who are not who they claim to be?

It's all about soul
It's all about faith and a deeper devotion
It's all about soul
'Cause under the love is a stronger emotion
She's got to be strong
'Cause so many things getting out of control
Should drive her away
So why does she stay?
It's all about soul

I have often thought that there is a stronger emotion than love.  People use the term so loosely these days that it's almost hard to pun down.  It's understandable then when you go to use it, that it seems almost overused and has almost lost its meaning altogether.  Is this why Billy Joel has chosen to talk about the soul in this way?  As a way to describe what it means to have deep and meaningful heart connections with people that goes beyond love, as it goes deeper than what love could even describe.  Think about when even though things can get out of control, somehow it always has a way of resolving itself or someone comes in and saves the day.  I can't recall how many times I have walked away from situations or backed away from something that I didn't want to be a part of, but I comes across it and end up fixing it.  Some could even say I attract it, but I know it's because my soul can hear the cries that other souls make and seeks them out to console them.  Is this you need to be strong?

She turns to me sometimes and asks me what I'm dreaming
And I realize I must have gone a million miles away
And I ask her how she knew to reach out for me at that moment
And she smiles because it's understood there are no words to say

Last week a high school friend of mine talked quite vividly about how she always feels connected to me and can't explain it.  When she thinks about me, I suddenly text her or I call her - it blows her mind each and every time.  I don't think that's unusual at all.  There are some people who we are attuned to, like we all emit sound frequencies from our minds and I find myself connected to those who need to hear from me.  It's a bit more sophisticated than cups and string that we used to play with when we were kids and tried to communicate with each other.  I just think if we care deeply about people, we can connect with them not just on the internet and the worldwide web.

It's all about soul
It's all about knowing how someone is feeling
The woman's got soul
The power of love and the power of healing
This life isn't fair
It's gonna get dark, it's gonna get cold
You've got to be tough, but that ain't enough
It's all about soul

This single comes from Billy Joel's final studio album released in 1993.  That was a pretty good year for me.  Three of my six brothers decided to get married that year within months of each other.  I only attended two of those three weddings.  I would have my own wedding only 14 years later ha!  If life is going to throw so much at you, is your soul tough enough to deal with them?  The power of love and the power of healing resonate quite strongly within my soul.  I'm a strong believer in showing people mercy, love and healing them with words and music, even when part of me feels that they don't deserve my mercy - particularly when they have wronged me.  But why would I use my life to keep track of those who have wronged me? I could use my life in much more constructive ways, like making choices that make me happy, that surround my life with love and laughter and if I am to face pain and adversity on many occasions, which is only natural as life isn't perfect - but I am able to do so.

There are people who have lost every trace of human kindness
There are many who have fallen, there are some who still survive
She comes to me at night, and she tells me her desires
And she gives me all the love I need to keep my faith alive

I am conscious of speaking life into people.
For those people who I cannot speak life into, it is because I have done so many many times, but they don't have the ears to hear what I'm saying.  So what can you do when you no longer feel that you can speak life into people?  You stop talking to them.  You fall silent.  But I don't completely give up.  I can already sense when the right time will happen in due course, when an opportunity will present itself and I will see a flicker in their eyes that lay dormant for so long, and I know that I will be able to ignite something that is struggling to turn into a flame.

There are so many politicians and excessively rich people who no longer possess human kindness.  What do we do with people like this?  Are we able to band together and make them see reason?  Are we able to collectively implore them to change their ways - to stop masking their so-called collectivism under the neoliberalism that everyone knows is the new communism?

It's all about soul
It's all about joy that comes out of sorrow
It's all about soul
Who's standing now and who's standing tomorrow
You've got to be hard
Hard as the rock in that old rock 'n' roll song
But that's the only part, you know in your heart
It's all about soul

Where do you stand today?  Where do you stand tomorrow?
I think it helps to know first, if you're standing at all.

I hope that you take care of your soul.
Sometimes the deepest cuts that we feel in life, can affect our souls and it has an effect on everything else in our lives - whether we choose to let it change us or not, we may or not have any control over how that happens.  But that's the only part, you know in your heart it's all about soul. . .

Free. . .

Whispering in his ear
My magic potion for love
Telling him I'm sincere
And that there's nothin' too good for us

The dreamy introduction of the song together with the percussion effects, synthesiser effects before the rhythm guitar, bass, hammond organ and drums take over with the male background vocals are all the ingredients for classic r'n'b.  I have had this track sitting in my drafts folder for a while now but came across it again when I saw the video for it on Facebook and thought yes, I'm really feeling that song today.  I smile when I think about how you can tell someone you are sincere, but it is totally up to them whether they can handle your sincerity or not.  I guess you can only do what you can, and it is up to them to decide how they feel about what you've said.

And I just got to be me, be me

When you think about your freedom in your life, you would probably safely say that there is no other way that you can see yourself being, other than free.  We sometimes take our freedom for granted, because we haven't had it taken away from us, or have been deprived it like our ancestors have or whether we have subjected other people to that like our ancestors have (depending on what type of ancestors you have I suppose).

I can't imagine myself being anybody else but me.  I don't think you can be anybody else, because people will naturally gravitate themselves towards who you are.  Even when your exterior doesn't match what you think your interior looks like, it doesn't matter.  People are just drawn unequivocally to you.

Teasing hands, all his might
Give our nights such misery
Happiness all the time
Oh, and how that man pleases me

Do people please you?  It will be rare to find someone who can give you the complete satisfaction that you are craving, because there's no such things as a perfect woman or a perfect man or is there?  We don't want to settle either.  We should be able to connect with people who are able to please us in ways that we never imagined.  People who make us feel goof about ourselves, who validate us in areas that we need validation in the most.  So we shouldn't be giving over any of our nights any misery at all, in fact, we should be dedicating all of our energy and experiences to people who understand what we want for ourselves.  Sounds simple enough doesn't it?  But very challenging to find.

But I want to be free, free, free
And I just got be to me, yeah, be me

These lines always make me smile.  I think if you want to be free, especially when you don't feel it, then it's a reminder to get out there and do what you want.

Ba, de ah, ba, ba, ba, ba, ba, ba, ba
(I just got to be me, be me)
Ba, de ah, ba, ba, ba, ba, ba, ba, ba

For the most part, when a singer goes off into using text in this way in a song, the focus is steered more towards the melody and the music, rather than the lexical meaning of the words.  I think of these parts as much like how actors may improvise lines or include non-verbal gestures that aren't part of a script or when a dancer adds some improvised movements that aren't part of the devised choreography, but chooses to deliberately create moves on the spot during the performance.  The main lines in this section is just on 'being free' and to be me.  I think you are at your most free when you are being yourself.  If you aren't, then there's some work that needs to be done to figure out who you are and how to be free again.  I've been coming across too many people who pretend to be someone else in public forums, but privately will be completely vulnerable. What's that all about anyway?  Choose freedom every time.

Feeling you close to me
Makes all my senses smile
Let's not waste ecstasy
'Cause I'll only be here for awhile

I hope that you are with someone who makes your sense smile.  Even if you aren't, be comforted in the knowledge that maybe you were with someone once who made you feel that way.  In saying this though, it doesn't mean that you will never ever be with someone who makes your sense smile.  It just means that you might come across them and you can't be together, but for the moments that you are connected, enjoy making each other's sense smile.  Because as long as you're going to be you and do what you need to do to be free, I too want to be free, got to be me, be me. . .

Could you be loved. . .

Could you be loved and be loved
Could you be loved and be loved. . .

I have fond memories of this song when I was first studying at university  My friends and I would also put this song this on the jukebox and vibe out to it in one of the college cafeterias because we couldn't study in the library without music.  Listening to a walkman or discman couldn't quite cut it at the time because we were into surround sound and giving people around us a chance to vibe out to what we were listening to as well.  I"d like to think that we had good taste in music ha!  But back to the song. . .

Are you a lovable person?  Are you an easy person to love?  The possibility that is suggested by the use of the word 'could' may mean that you haven't really shown signs of being loved by others.  You may not have made things easy for people to see lovable qualities in you.  This may be deliberate on your part or you may not even be aware this that is what you do - these are all part of unintended consequences.

Don't let them fool ya
Or even try to school ya! Oh no!
We've got a mind of our own
So go to hell if what you're thinking is not right
Love would never leave us alone
I am the darkness there must come out the light

You might go through life living in a typical dichotomy, living a life of either/or, of natural opposites.  Are you a gullible person?  Do you unconsciously invite people into your life to teach you things?  This might not be your own doing but you might be in line to receive a whole bunch of people who come to you seeking answers, or come to you to offload their problems.  Some may not recognise that they have problems until they've realised they have disappeared, because you have helped to make them disappear, not because you're a magician, but because you were able to provide some practical steps to engage in so that they could make up their own mind about directions to move, figuring out places and destinations to move towards.  Are you able to surface your own light from within yourself, pushing past all of the darkness that you unwittingly hold onto?

The road of life is rocky and you may stumble too
So while you point your fingers someone else is judging you
Love your brotherman!

Life may soon start to feel like a waste of time if you continue to spend it trying to be right all the time.  Don't get me wrong, I am a big believer in equity and social justice, but when you try to do things that show how good you are as an individual, but then don't use your position to make things equitable and socially just for all, then what is the point?  Do you want to be a posterchild for doing the right thing but now making an impact in our communities?  There are no prizes or awards of recognition for that.  At least not in my book.  This is probably why I don't focus on playing the blame game most of the time, in most contexts that I find myself in, but instead, I choose to focus on what is the collective outcome that is best for everyone?  This is what I think will help you, this is how you could be loved and be loved.

Don't let them change ya!

Or even rearrange ya, oh no!
We've got a life to live
They say only - only
Only the fittest of the fittest shall survive
Stay alive, eh!

There are the many types of change but there are two main ones that spring to mind 1) change happens when it is happening to you, you are subjected to it and have become part of a machine that needs you to change and you can't control it or 2) change happens because you have allowed yourself permission to lead that change and make it happen so that it makes things better for everyone.  There is still the added distinction of change so it improves the quality of life or change that doesn't.  It seems a little black and white and a little oversimplified - yes - but I think that we are in a world that is hell bent on making thins complicated - even when we think we are changing for the better.  This happens when our thoughts and words do not actually align with our actions.  So while we may think and say the right things - they are not manifested in our deeds.  So what needs to change?

You ain't gonna miss your water until your water runs dry
No matter how you treat him, the man will never be satisfied
Say something!

I hope you start to think about your relationship with "the man".  Do you still want to be a big part of the machine, of the rat race that we are in, conforming to how things are because that's the way they have always been?  Do we exist so that we can satisfy the man?  He will never be satisfied until we have given over everything that we have, have lost who we are because we are not allowed to think for ourselves, because we've been lulled into this sense of normality that isn't normal at all.  I hope that when it counts the most, that you are able to say something. . .

I know where I've been . . .

There's a light in the darkness
Though the night as black as my skin
There's a light, burning bright
Showing me the way
But I know where I've been

It might be hard to see a way forward when things that have happened to you, may threaten to keep you firmly rooted in your past.  Do we have the vision required to see the light?  Do we remember what the light looks like anymore?  We must never lost sight of the light because we keep our eyes focused on it, if we keep our eyes trained on this burning bright light. we know that we will be closer to its warm in the darkness.  If you know where you have been then you will know how much farther you have to go in order to be in the space that you must occupy to make a difference to everyone around you.

There's a cry in the distance
It's a voice that comes from deep within
There's a cry asking why
I pray the answer's up ahead yeah
'Cause I know where I've been

If you hear that cry in the distance, it must resonate and connect with your inner voice, because your ears must be attuned to what it needs to hear.  We may feel that we do not have any say in what happens in our lives. that we do not have control over our own decisions that impact on an improved better quality of life - the human rights that we are entitled to not because of privilege, but because it is the quintessential difference of what separates us from being animals.  The belief and faith that you hold that an answer is coming soon, means that we require patience, not just a whole bucketload, but maybe even several boatloads that impress upon us the notion of slowly and surely, of progress being made to make us better people, more caring towards each other, more tolerant, and more forgiving and loving - devoid of anything negative or evil that turns us from being humans to animals.

There's a road we've been traveling
Lost so many on the way
But the riches will be plenty
What the price, the price we had to pay

We will know many people that have died or we have lost, who stood up and knew where they had been.  It is up to us to remember the price they paid, the sacrifices they made not because it had anything to do with choice, but it had to do with it being the right thing to do for the greater good.  Every generation needs to improve what has been gained from the generation before.  What legacy will they leave behind or entrust to the next generation?  What prices will future generations continue to pay for poor decisions, lack of foresight into the wellbeing of a nation's people because we couldn't protect and care for its citizens?  Who will inherit these riches of plenty?  Will it fall into the right hands who can make a caring bit of difference to our world?

There's a dream in the future
There's a struggle that we have yet to win
And there's pride in my heart 'cause I know where I'm going
Yes I do, and I know where I've been yeah

What cause will you champion so that everyone can benefit from the work or the calling that you have been assigned from the great divine?  They say that too much pride can be a bad thing, but I think there's nothing wrong with being and feeling confident in yourself.  There's nothing worse than being someone with low self esteem and constantly having to get reassurance for something that you need to develop for yourself - but what if you don't naturally have it?  When you have been hurt too many times, has it made you a tougher person?  Has it made you more resilient?  Do you know what additional qualities you need to build and strengthen this resilience that you need?

There's a road we must travel

There's a promise we must make
Oh but the riches will be plenty
Worth the risk and the chances that we take

Once you have set yourself on the path that you need to travel on, it can almost seem like you wondered why you didn't set yourself on this path sooner.  This is because you didn't follow that burning bright light when it was first revealed to you.  For the most part, you would have tried to convince yourself that you don't deserve that job promotion, you don't deserve that new friend who sees only good in you, that you don't deserve happiness, or to be treated with love and respect.  Why would you deny yourself any form of goodness that comes into your life?  If you expect bad things to happen, they will happen.  Shift your mind and instead focus on some constructive things and supportive people who will speak life into you, make you realise your potential and live your best life possible.  Isn't that, aren't these things all worth the risk and the chances that you continually take?  There is no limit to anything.  Why limit yourself?  There is no ceiling, nothing is capped, there is no limit, because we're not even inside.  We're outside thinking and feeling about where best to approach life, where best to collect people who can help to complete your collective mission, no matter how long it takes, it is worthy of the cause to do our best for the greater good of all humanity; to be human.

There's a dream in the future
There's a struggle that we have yet to win
Use that pride in our hearts
To lift us up into tomorrow
'Cause just to sit still would be a sin
(I know where I'm going)
'Cause I know where I've been

I hope that we never lose sight of the future that we know we deserve.  Aren't you sick of sitting still?  When we are complacent and condone injustice in the world, this is because we are willing to put up with it in our lives.  Use what we have inside ourselves, use what makes us unique, that makes us stand out, use the very things that make people uncomfortable about our diversity, what makes us special in terms of where have come from.  I don't know how you're feeling right now, but I am extremely confident that if we work together, diligently and consistently, we can totally make it.  I know we can do better, all of us, 'cause I know where I've been. . .

Mister Chameleon. . .

When you start to see people for who they really are, it can be a real eye-opening experience.  You think that your mind is starting to play tricks on you because you don't understand why you are noticing these differences in their character.  Why didn't you see this before?  Have they been like this the entire time and I just didn't notice?  What have I been paying attention to?  Why am I only just seeing this now?

Here's a story of falling in love with a man of too many shades
At the blink of an eye I see his color change
It's enough to make me go insane
Flying from one extreme to the next
Should've guessed he'd fade to indigo
Although he was peachy not too long ago
By tomorrow he'll be white as snow

It does make me wonder how fast the blink of an eye truly is.  Are we talking earth time here or spiritual plane time?  Because time can be irrelevant if you so choose it to be.  I find it interesting when people change colours so quickly in front of me.  I can quite easily spend time watching and thinking, and sometimes I might even watch how people react and respond to them.  It makes for some great entertainment I can tell you that much.

Mister Chameleon, your love is so fair weather
You go from gold to green with no warning
And I can't take it anymore, it's getting so old
Something says I gotta get up

What does it mean say that your love is so fair weather?  It means that it weakens or falls in times of trouble.  How do you react to challenges that affect your love or your feelings for people?  Do you think that things would change if you had more warning?  I don't think so.  The only thing a warning in this case would do, is show you a train wreck, plane crash or car crash in slow motion - you see it unfold right in front of your eyes but you can't do anything to stop it, there is just too much momentum.

We burned bright as the burgundy sun until emerald envy caused a scene
And exposed the crimson in your tangerine
You are quite the man of mystery
Your colors flash, they don't last, I know that they'll be
Changing so very soon
I'm looking for signs, point me to the clues
What did I do to make you turn so blue, oh you're so mean baby!

There is nothing worse than being connected to someone who is possessive or only wants you all to themselves.  It will be easy to spot other colours with increasing frequency because you know what to start looking for.  If you are someone who is highly sought after by lots of people, then you can't afford to be someone's possession.  I just think that you need to develop your skills to detect when Mister Chameleon starts changing colours.  Once you start becoming more adept at noticing and being able to anticipate when these colours change, you are then better equipped to deal with any repercussions as a result of the constant colour flash.

Mister Chameleon, I see your true colors
I thought I knew you well, now it's hard to tell and I can't take it anymore
This is getting old
Something says I gotta get up

I hope that you are able to know how to deal with Mister Chameleon when he comes your way.  I think he knows to fear you and become nervous of your reactions and actions towards him.   How important is it that we know someone well in the first place?  If people are not prepared to answer your questions, then they must at least be prepared to listen to your statements of conviction, because they need to hear it.  This is the only way that they can take the information that you have shared and then apply it to their own understanding.

I hope that you listen to that something and get up.  You don't have to take it anymore.  You can make the decision right now, right this minute to get up and live your best life; whether you choose to go solo or be stuck with your very own Mister Chameleon. . .

I wanna be down. . .

Brandy is currently on tour in the southern hemisphere and I'm actually going to her only NZ concert tonight in Auckland.  This song was released in 1994, my last year of high school and that was such a good year.  Do you have many years when you reflect and think, wow I did so much that year or I grew up and learned so much about myself or I can't believe I did those things?  I think the most fun you can have in life is the unexpected pitstops along the way.  They help to remind you to pull over and have a long look around you and drink in some of the things that you would normally drive by and never stop to enjoy.

I would like to know if I could be
The kind of girl that you could be down for
Cos when I look at you I feel something tell me
That you're the kind of guy that I should make a move on
And if I don't let you know
Then I won't be for real
I could be wrong but I feel like something could be going on
The more I see you the more that it becomes so true
There ain't no other for me it's only you

What do you do when someone catches your eye?  The thing I laugh about growing up was understanding what it meant to engage in establishing friendships or relationships with people that you liked, and subsequently wanted to spend more time with.  It's safe to say that physical appearance is always the first thing that you notice, and that totally depends on your taste and what you find attractive.  Beauty is after all in the eyes of the beholder.

I wanna be down
With what you're going through
I wanna be down
I wanna be down with you
No matter what time of day or night it's true
I wanna be down

How do you let someone know that you wanna be down with them?  You might make it obvious by telling them or dropping some subtle hints, or just showing them through deeds and actions, through grand gestures even, about how much you think about them or how much they have affected you.  Are you able to look back on your romantic life like it's a movie?  Can you please out some scenes in your head where you chuckle to yourself - what was I thinking?  Those times when you were completely down for someone and it was completely the wrong way to be, or if someone was down for you and you thought - why?  What could you possible see in me that makes you want to support me in that way?

I know anybody's gonna be lonely
Without the reason they've got someone to care for
Maybe all you need's a shoulder to cry on
If that's a fact then I'll be more than you could ever dream of
If all you need is the time that I got plenty of
I'll dedicate all my love until you call baby
I wanna stay by your side
Be there to call you up
And let you know everything will be alright

There's nothing more promising like emotional support from someone.  Especially when they are able to offer it at the most opportune time.  I guess it totally depends on how receptive you are to accepting people's help in this way, particularly if you are someone that doesn't really like to ask for help.  You might want to keep playing off that facade, that illusion or front that you have everything absolutely together in your life.  There is a sense of purpose in being able to care for someone rather than being cared for by them.  I guess you just want to be sure that if you're going to be down for someone, that it's reciprocated and they're going to be down for you too.

I wanna be down
With what you're going through
I wanna be down
I wanna be down with you
No matter what time of day or night it's true
I wanna be down

I hope that you allow yourself space to be with people who are down for you.  I know this song has romantic implications and shows us how we can offer emotional support to someone to reassure them that yes, if you are in their lives, they will be better people as a result of your loyalty and dedication as a friend; but we need to remember that regardless of how we make ourselves available for people no matter what time or day or night it's true, but sometimes I wanna be down just for me. . .

Beautiful. . .

Don't look at me. . .

You might be sick of people looking at you not because you're an ugly person, but because they look to you for advice and guidance when they should be looking within themselves.  How well do you know yourself?  Do you push yourself to the limits and push past your own negative views of yourself?  On the flipside, why are we uncomfortable with how people look at us?  Is it because they want us to give them things that we are unwilling to let go of within our grasp?  Get comfortable with you being uncomfortable real quick, because if people keep coming to you to solve problems, even your own, that must mean you're pretty damn good at it.

Everyday is so wonderful
Then suddenly it's hard to breathe
Now and then I get insecure
From all the pain, I'm so ashamed

Are you able to pinpoint what causes you pain in your daily life?  The natural inclination is to avoid pain at all costs if you can help it by distancing yourself from people, things or situations that cause you harm.  When you find it hard to continue breathing, what types of relief or assistance can you call upon to regulate your breathing or help you to come up for air?  Who or what gives cause to the insecurities that you feel?  I reckon most of it is in your head you know.  Sometimes you think people are out to get you, when in reality, they actually just don't even care about you - simple as that.  We just need to remember to keep our days wonderful and not worry so much about not things that we can't control - but things that steal our good mood and overall happiness.

I am beautiful no matter what they say
Words can't bring me down
I am beautiful in every single way
Yes, words can't bring me down. . oh no. .
So don't you bring me down today

If you have to rely on someone else telling you that you are beautiful person, then chances are you a person with insecurities or someone with pretty low self worth.  This is why it's important that you start to develop your own core and inner strength of your own attributed.  Start of really focus on your own self knowledge.  It's something that I've been focusing on a lot in my doctoral research about how students think about themselves or define themselves.  Just because someone says something about you - is it necessarily true?  That's their opinion of you.

To all your friends you're delirious
So consumed in all your doom
Trying hard to fill the emptiness
The pieces gone, left the puzzle undone
Is that the way it is?

Words shouldn't be able to hurt you.  Words should uplift you and make you feel like you have a great contribution to be able to make to the world.  Let go of people who try to bring you down.  They're just really sick of you succeeding and winning in your own life - that they just want pieces of it for themselves, and the only way they can do that, is to try and damage your self worth and make you feel less than you actually are.  When we feel down though, it's important to feel that way for a little while so that you appreciate how quickly things can be taken away from you, how easy it is to think about that vacuum of emptiness to continue to exist and grow, but only if you let it.

You are beautiful no matter what they say
Words can't bring you down. . oh no
You are beautiful in every single way
Yes, words can't bring you down, oh no
So don't you bring me down today

Can you counter the negative words that people say by the positive words that other people can say about you?  Using your discernment you should be able to isolate the difference between people who genuinely value you and those who say what they need to say because they can't imagine life without you.  If you allow people to bring you down with their words, then that's totally on you.  I always think it helps when you are able to pinpoint the exact moments when other people's perception and subsequent attitude towards you becomes known.  You will be able to take your mind's eye back in time through your own timelines of events and replay an incident in your mind about when that happened.  Why would you spend time putting yourself down when there are others that are more than willing to do so?  Don't give them the satisfaction that their words get you down.  Remember that you're beautiful.  Never forget your beauty.  It will radiate from within to the outside world.

No matter what we do (no matter what we do)
No matter what we say (no matter what we say)
We're the song inside the tune
Full of beautiful mistakes

Can you become the song inside the tune?  What does the song sound like?  What does the tune sound like?  Often we are so ashamed of our mistakes, but we need to acknowledge that mistakes need to be made in order to understand the lessons that make us better than who we were.  Those past mistakes shouldn't need to brought in your present if you are interested in creating the best future for yourself.  Have the foresight to know that you are as prepared as you need to be.  You don't have to assume anything different that what you already do because you just need to be you.  Nobody does you, better than you :-)

And everywhere we go (and everywhere we go)
The sun will always shine (the sun will always shine)
And tomorrow we might wake on the other side

I hope that you know that you are loved.  For so many years, you will have lost lots of people along their way for whatever reasons - self inflicted or otherwise and you spend times on the roadside trying to figure out why it has happened, but reconcile the fact that those things happen as part of life - your life.  The impact that we continue to feel when we experience loss or other negative feelings that make us feel sad should only be temporary,  They should only last for short enough of a time to remind you about what happened in the past so that you can move forward.  I hope that you'll see that things will be better tomorrow.  They always are.  Even if we are hugely skeptical.  You just need to wake on the other side. . .

Nightminds. . .

Just lay it down, put your face in my neck and let it fall out
I know, I know, I know
I knew before you got home
This world you're in now
It doesn't have to be alone
I'll get there somehow, 'cos
I know, I know, I know
When, even springtime feels cold

Do people seek you out for comfort?  You may be someone who is very good at being there for others, but not very good at being there for yourself.  You may also find that you don't need to expect those people who come seeking comfort from you to understand how they can help you.  So you only give them little pieces that they are able to help you with, because they can't do the things that you do; they are burdens that only you can bear alone.  Where can you go to find release?  Who can you turn to for help with things that weigh heavy on your heart?  You will need to make some decisions about who to surround yourself with and how you allow yourself to be treated.  When it comes time to speak up, just be prepared to lay it all out on the table and not worry about repercussions.  Speak your truth.

But I will learn to breathe this ugliness you see
So we can both be there and we can both share the dark
And in our honesty, together we will rise
Out of our nightminds, and into the light
At the end of the fight

It might be difficult to breathe through the ugliness that you see because there is either so much of it, or you don't see anything beautiful, it's just all overwhelmed by the ugliness.  Who can be there with you?  Who can you share the dark with?  Make sure that when you go to rise, that you rise with people who understand what it means to rise; that you take people with you and uplift as many as possible.  We are not placed on this earth to seek glory, or to draw attention to ourselves.  If anything, we can use what fame we have in our own circles to highlight causes and events that need to have society's lens on it.  How do you use your influence in your life?  Do you use it for monetary gain, for profit rather than for the good of all?  It is understandable if life was a bus, and you want to press the button and get off at the next stop.  Have you thought about what light exists for you at the end of your fight though?  Have you lost sight of the prize?

You were blessed by a different kind of inner view, it's all magnified
The highs would make you fly, and the lows make you want to die
And I was once there, hanging from that very ledge where you are standing
So I know, I know, I know
It's easier to let go

If you feel things with such intensity, it may be hard for those around you to understand what you are feeling and how you feel it.  You can't describe the inner view that you see, because their eyes can't see what goes on inside your mind.  Would you prefer to be hanging from the ledge rather than standing?  We do not suffer so much in this world without being able to take that suffering and convert it into strength to fuel and fulfill our real mission, our purpose for breathing.  When you decide to let go, think very carefully about who and what you will be letting go.

But I will learn to breathe this ugliness you see
So we can both be there and we can both share the dark
And in our honesty, together we will rise
Out of our nightminds, and into the light
At the end of the fight

You might decide that you can't share the dark.  You might also decide that you're not receiving the honesty that you expect, so how can you possibly rise?  It is important to know what it feels like during the state when we are in our nightminds, but we must also be careful not to let the ugliness and the darkness consume everything else beautiful and full of light that peppers our life.  Because if we gave up on ourselves that easily, if we let go that quickly, then we weren't prepared to fight at all.

and in our honesty, together we will rise out of our nightminds
And into the light. . . at the end of the fight. . .

I hope that you will be able to experience honesty that frees people.  The kind of honesty that doesn't harm, but warms the heart, because it comes from a place of purity and its essence is never ugly.  Honesty can hurt, but it can also be beautiful.  Whether we choose to share our darkness with others to allow them to lead us into the light at the end of our fight, for some of you, it will be a journey that you will go alone.  Never be afraid of the inner view you hold.  Believe in yourself, back yourself and never let your smile fade.  You must always remember to smile through the ugliness and the darkness, so that we remember where we are heading, into the light at the end of the fight. . .

Life uncommon. . .

Don't worry mother, it'll be alright
And don't worry sister, say your prayers and sleep tight
It'll be fine lover of mine
It'll be just fine

Sometimes all we need is to have someone tell us that things will be just fine.
The subtle beginning of the song signals the continual building of the layers to come, particularly with the introduction of the semibreves in the organ.  The musical references I make in this blog post is based on what I hear in the It reminds me of what happens in our life when we first come into the world.  We enter alone, by ourselves (even twins and other multiple births - you come together, but still alone in your own body that contains you own individual soul).  Do you pray when you worry?  Are you able to sleep better after you've said your prayers or if you have inner peace or the kind of peace of mind that comes when you command it?

Lend your voices only to sounds of freedom
No longer lend your strength to that which you wish to be free from
Fill your lives with love and bravery
And you shall lead a life uncommon

We must speak more about what being free really sounds like, rather than give all of our energy to negative things that continue to restrain us, hold us back or threaten our sense of growth that we are entitled to absorb. The guitar lends itself to the rhythm that indicates that we must start to move forward with our lives, that when we can find our truth in what needs to be said, then we shall really start living uncommon lives that go against the grain.  This might mean that we are ahead of our time on many occasions and that's not necessarily a bad thing.  Just choose to sing from the song sheet that gives you the wind to lift you above and out of your situation.

I've heard your anguish
I've heard your hearts cry out
We are tired, we are weary, but we aren't worn out
Set down your chains, until only faith remains
Set down your chains

The drums, organ and bass join the guitar, joining together to set out their chains in this verse.  When you can identify what the obstacles, restraints, constraints, barriers that aim to impede you, to stop you from achieving your true potential, or realising your vision, then you can start to take action.  Your faith must remain at all costs.  Your faith is what will be able to bring you through and deal with what life continues to throw your way.  When the same obstacles cross your path, then this means that you haven't learned the lesson from the previous time.  The biggest disappointment you should feel in yourself, is if you continue to allow people or events to build those chains that you refuse to set down.  It's a disappointment and can cause a crushing blow to your confidence because while you are busy blaming others for what has happened, you discover that you built the chains yourself.  Will you continue to build your own chains that self sabotages you every time?

And lend your voices only to sounds of freedom
No longer lend your strength to that which you wish to be free from
Fill your lives with love and bravery
And you shall lead a life uncommon

The harmony provided by the second vocalist helps us to remember that we will be able to live our lives when we are able to find like minded people who will sing the same song as us.  Do you have people like this in your life?  If you are surrounded by people who are constantly off key or keep changing the song sheet, then it's time to start thinking about what is important in our life and focus on that, not what stops us from being free, or holds us back; including people.  Do you have strategies for how to avoid focusing on the negative things in your life?  It takes a while to be able to master and train your mind to minimise this but once done, it is well worth the journey.

There are plenty of people who pray for peace
But if praying were enough it would have come to be
Let your words enslave no one and the heavens will hush themselves
To hear our voices ring out clear
With sounds of freedom
Sounds of freedom

Prayers are important but must also be accompanied with action.  Aren't prayers just words that we invoke feelings, wishes, dreams and gratitude in?  Do you wait for peace to happen or do you find ways to spread peace?  Find other people, seek other people out whose voices can ring out clear just like yours.  When you go to speak somewhere and people hear you, they might come back and tell you that what you have shared has resonated quite strongly with them.  How does that make you feel?  Do you feel that your words have enslaved them?  Are you fascinated by how what you have said has carried on the winds, climbed into people's ears and made their way down their throats to reach their hearts?  Is this where the expression, to have my throat in my heart comes from?  Because when we hear people who genuinely touch our hearts, we no longer have the ability to articulately express the impact of their words?  Have we all become enslaved?

Come on you unbelievers, move out of the way
There is a new army coming and we are armed with faith
To live, we must give
To live. . .

I hope that you are able to distance yourself from the unbelievers who don't want to learn the message that you are spreading, because they aren't equipped to hear what you have to say, just as they aren't equipped to see what you see, taste what you taste and say what you say.  These unbelievers are limited because their function in your life is to stop you from living your destiny.  I also hope that you are able to distance yourself from people who think they are believers, but actually aren't.  These people are more dangerous than unbelievers.  They either know what they're doing, or have no idea that their unintentional acts are causing you harm.  Protect yourself from those who threaten your purpose.  This is why you were sent here; to teach us all how to live the life uncommon. . .

Everyone's got something. . .

Everyone's got something
Something no one else can do
Something no one else can see

The lyrics sound so simple but I love it.  What do they say - simplicity is beauty?  I don't sense any kind of insinuation, competitive vibe, malice or envy in these lines.  The notion that we are all special in our own way is completely true.  There are things that others can do, that you can't do, just as there are things that you can do, that others can't do. What comes naturally to you?  I talked yesterday about mindfulness and being more cognisant of the moments that you continue to have in your life.  We are all connected and should be united for the pure fact that, we've got something.

And I want you, I want you to know
All I have is you, all I need is you
All I want is you

I had a conversation with a friend about what it means to be a possession.  Has this happened to you?  I was talking to him about what it means when you become a possession that other people want to hold onto, and this may be for several reasons: 1) they like the way you make them feel about themselves, 2) they want to know if you get deep with them like you do with other people (let's face it, if you're a deep thinker, you will be a deep thinker regardless of who you're with, it's just how you're built), 3) when you meet with them they want to get time with you so they can get their 'fix' (like you're some kind of drug that they need to inhale on sight).

Everyone's got something
Darling, I'll let you guide me
Tell me that you want me

There are two types of guidance.  One where you allow someone to guide you, so you give permission to be lead or guided by someone.  The other is being guided against your will.  I'm not talking about being "forcibly" guided here, rather, I'm talking about how sometimes we don't have a choice in who guides us, so we must be vigilant and guard against being hurt (just in case) so that when you reach your destination, you have all your wits about you.  We can only have the former when we have complete trust in someone to be able to take us where we know we need to go, but too scared to trust ourselves to go alone.

And I want you, I want you to know
All I have is you, all I need is you
All I want is you

When things are repeated to you like a mantra, if you hear it often enough - does this mean that the reason for its repetition is because you need to pay attention to?  I've been getting a lot of signposts lately and I think that if you are starting to see something similar in your own life, then it is by no accident, but messages sent for you to sit up and take notice.  Pay attention to your life.  Be mindful of who you are with and what you are doing, what you are seeing with them.  We need to let people know what we want them to know, because they need to know that your sincerity is genuine, and that you have a fully functioning heart; even when you don't exercise it as much as you should.

Mmmm mmmmm mmmmmm x3

And I want you, I want you to know
All I have is you, all I need is you
All I want is you

I hope that with each passing day that you are able to master your thoughts and start to see how much you can manifest these into action.  Irrespective of what other people want from you, want you to know, that they need you and all they have is you, I just hope that you want yourself just as much, if not more.  All you should want is you. . . .

Magic. . .

Come take my hand
You should know me
I've always been in your mind
You know I will be kind
I'll be guiding you

I'm not sure if it's a good thing to be in people's minds or not, but they will either let you know or not.  Do you have someone, something or some being guiding you?  I wonder if we understand how much we allow ourselves to be taken to places that we have never been before.  Of course, that involves trust on your part to be able to surrender parts of yourself to an experience or journey that has no end in sight.  Do you trust yourself and that other party to know where to take you, to lead you?

Building your dream
Has to start now
There's no other road to take
You won't make a mistake
I'll be guiding you

There are different levels or layers of trust.  It may come easily or it may take some time to develop, depending on the context that we are asked to trust ourselves (and others).  Do you take the time and energy to build your dream on a daily basis?  I say this to you if you're a person that isn't particularly one for 'pie in the sky' dreams but rather fixated on the here and now.  I recently listened to a talk on 'mindfulness' and being more present in the here and now.  Does this mean then that we need to be much more super aware of our surroundings and be much more appreciative of the lessons that accompany and become entrenched to some degree in these surroundings?  I think we are often afraid to make mistakes, so we don't try new things or meet new people, because we think there's some manual from the galaxy that we're meant to follow.

You have to believe we are magic
Nothin' can stand in our way
You have to believe we are magic
Don't let your aim ever stray
And if all your hopes survive
Your destiny will arrive
I'll bring all your dreams alive
For you

What is magic?  Is it something that happens when it comes together in such a way that it defies logical explanation, causing the mind to boggle more than usual?  All you know is that magic is something of mystery and evocative of childhood delights that used to thrill you beyond measure and has lost its shine in the harsh light of adulthood.  Musically speaking, the chorus reveals an ethereal symmetry, the first half urging the listener to believe in magic, because it is important to the goal of being guided to making dreams come alive; the promise of destiny arriving in the second half.  It makes me think about how our own destinies will arrive.  Do you know what lies in store for you with such certainty that you can see it, taste it, feel it, hear it, that it overwhelms your senses, that it couldn't be anything else but magic?

From where I stand
You are home free
The planets align so rare
There's promise in the air
And I'm guiding you

I don't feel that people have a sense of wonder and excitement about things anymore.  It saddens me to think about how cynical we've become in this sense.  What do the planets aligning look like in your world?  I'm talking about the synchronicity that you can't explain (should we even want to?) that just makes things and people 'feel' right.  Is this that sense of belonging that we find ourselves trying to avoid yet understand is inextricably intertwined with our unspoken need to connect?  What does it mean to be home free?  We are more free than usual to pursue, enjoy or just revel in what is?  The promise in the air is so faint that you need to strain your ears to hear it, but I guess if you have the ears to hear it, then that will bring with it the beginning of the knowledge you need for guidance.

Through every turn I'll be near you
I'll come anytime you call
I'll catch you when you fall
I'll be guiding you

Divine inspiration sits quite nicely in this verse.  Who do you call upon when you need help, when you need the reassurance to keep you safe and on the path that you want to be?  We would not truly be living if we didn't have many turns in the road.  There is no other way that we can build our character and forearm ourselves against the challenges that we must face, to slay our own demons, if we didn't believe in our own magic of what makes us who we are.

You have to believe we are magic
Nothin' can stand in our way
You have to believe we are magic
Don't let your aim ever stray
And if all your hopes survive
Your destiny will arrive
I'll bring all your dreams alive
For you

Why would your hopes not survive in this world?  We need to be mindful of each and every thing that we do because it speaks to what we are attracting into our lives, and the people that we choose to accompany on this journey.

Where are we going?  Who knows.  I don't think the destination is important.  Destinations are only ever really the signal that we have arrived at our destiny.

If you are particularly mindful you will notice that maybe the people you surrounded yourself with six months ago, may not necessarily be the same people now.  Funny how life turns out and how fast things change.  All in the blink of an eye.  Be grateful for what you have left behind, be grateful for what you have, be grateful for what is to come.  Surely this is why we have to believe we are magic?
