Finest wine. . .

This blog post is a song request from +Ngatai Walker

Know that we only got a little time
So like it or not, we gonna be drinking wine
No need to stop, until we see the sunshine
Start at the top, 'til we ease our worried minds

It will come to an inevitable end, and when it does, you will be thinking about how you will spend those last moments.  There will be reluctance or some level of indecision about whether it is a good idea to spend some time together.  But you know that you probably won't get this chance again, so you need to clear that indecision real quick.  You will think about the people that you want to spend those last few moments with, reminiscing about the memories that you made together and concentrating on making this little bit of time left, all the more sweeter, like the finest wine,

Know that I'm lost without you
Think of the cost of what you do
To me you really mean something
Running away will fix nothing
I'm begging you please reconsider
With you here life is much better

It's too late now to tell me all this.  I'm not running away, as a matter of fact you are - but we all know it's best that things have ended the way they have; because like all things in life, just as there is a beginning, there is surely an end.  We might never be satisfied with endings, as exciting as the beginnings were, but we can't control when things arrive at the end of a natural course of a journey or direction that has done its dash.  We are not ones to wonder about making different decisions at certain points and thinking about those coulda, shoulda, woulda moments because regrets serve no purpose in our current state.  Just accept the state of the situation for what it is and let it be.  Sit back and take a long hard look at what is, what has become and what it will now forever be.

Know that I'll wait until I'm old and gray
Just to see your face again
Know that I'll wait until I'm old and gray
Just to see your face again

Is that going to be a constructive use of your time?  That you will forever go on living your life, but knowing that in the back of your mind, regardless of the life that you have now made for yourself, you will store a picture of me in the back of your mind, so that you know to recognise me again too, as you will have that picture to compare - because by that stage we will both be old and gray.  Why do you want me to know that you will wait for me?  Like I said before, it serves no current purpose for you now,  Just accept the memories of what went before because it has lead you here, to this time, where you need to move on and forget my face.  I will be forgetting yours.  That might hurt to hear, but I think you need to hear it.

Know that I'm watching, every minute
I know what the clock says, but I'm not finished
Thinking of stopping, to rest our weary heads
The only option, thinking of the times we've had

I will let you hold onto the memories then, because that's the only option that I will give you.  There will be no further opportunities to reconnect or try to rekindle anything, because there will be nothing there for you.  You can keep watching, I can't really stop you, but don't expect me to allow you to steal anymore of my valuable time.  If your head is weary, rest it, but don't rest it on my shoulder.

Bring me a glass of your finest wine
I wanna dance, 'til the morning time
Bring us some food, got to feed our minds
Drink and laugh 'til we feel right
I'm just too blind to see the signs
We're losing what we've made. . .

I hope that you take that glass of my finest wine and savour the taste.
It might not last you a long time, but I think the effects should last long enough for you to forget the memories that we've made. . .
